Cancer Council WA recently held our 20th Anniversary Clive Deverall Society lunch on Wednesday 20 November at Perth’s Parmelia Hilton Hotel.

Over 130 guests attended the lunch, who got to hear from our CEO Ashley Reid and special guest Emeritus Professor, George Yeoh.

The Clive Deverall Society, named in honour of our former Executive Director Clive Deverall, celebrates those who support our vision of a cancer free future by leaving a gift in their Will. Clive, who led our organisation for nearly 25 years, was instrumental in steering us toward reducing the incidence and impact of cancer across our community.

The society began in consultation with a small group of members and has since steadily grown to include over 550 members statewide. The society enables us to acknowledge, during their lifetime, our partners for the future – those who generously support Cancer Council WA’s work through leaving a gift in their Will.

Their generosity allows us to help fund life-saving cancer research and prevention programs and provide much-need support to people affected by cancer.

Thanks to generous community support, there have been many advancements made to cancer treatment and prevention leading to improved cancer outcomes. But sadly, there is still work to be done as almost one in two West Australians will hear the words ‘you have cancer’ before the age of 85. Cancer Council WA are here to help reduce the impact of a cancer diagnosis.

We sincerely thank our wonderful members for supporting our shared vision and look forward to hosting many more lunches in the years to come.
