Providing a home away from home for regional West Australians, our Adopt a Room program is a chance for Cancer Council WA supporters to offer essential support for regional patients and their carers as they access cancer treatment in Perth.

A cancer diagnosis can mark the beginning of a journey full of emotional, physical and practical challenges. These challenges are amplified for regional patients.

With limited treatment centres in regional Western Australia, many patients must travel to Perth for treatment. The journey isolates them from home and support networks, often adding financial stress due to the need for temporary accommodation.

Our Lodges

Our Crawford and Milroy Lodges help to reduce the added hardship country cancer patients face by providing accommodation and support services close to treatment centres in Perth

If we had been staying in a hotel, it would have been an entirely different experience; both financially and having the support of the people around you that are going on the same difficult journey. It really made a difficult journey much more bearable. We are so grateful.

  • Weekly social support sessions including morning and afternoon teas.
  • Transport to treatment, reducing stress and the cost of getting to appointments in the city.
  • Referral to complementary therapies including exercise, meditation and mindfulness to help patients cope with side effects of treatment and enhance

How you can help

You can adopt one of the 88 guest rooms at our Crawford or Milroy Lodge for a year. Your generous gift will help us provide vital accommodation and support services to regional cancer patients and their carers when they need it most.

Adoption donations to this program start at $5000 for one year, for a single room and vary based on room size.

Your donation will help cover the costs associated with operating, maintaining and cleaning your adopted room, ensuring guests have a safe, clean and comfortable place to stay in their time of need. Your donation will also help provide the vital support services that are specially tailored to help reduce the burden for regional cancer patients.

By adopting a room at a Cancer Council WA Lodge, you are providing vital support and  comfort for every regional cancer patient and carer who stays in your room over the year.
